Job Overview

· Manufacturing buyers spend the majority of their time negotiating with manufacturers or service providers on prices of goods and materials. They make recommendations to upper management on possible purchases, monitoring trends and attempting to find the potential deals.

 

Duties:

· Evaluate suppliers or quality, timeliness and match according to goals

· Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage

· Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory

· Forecast market challenges based on industry trends

· Address issues regarding supplier quality and on time delivery.

· Participate in weekly material/production meetings.

· Manage deadlines based on project expectations

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in related field or five years of related experience

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ERP system knowledge, understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.

· Personal characteristics would include detailed oriented, be able to communicate effectively, be able to multi-task, be a quick study, can prioritize workload and effectively work in a team environment.

· Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.

 

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 2+ years of experience in a similar role.

 

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
